"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." - Zig Ziglar
I know goals are boring when you’ve already set them, and you just want to either have achieved them or at least be working towards achieving them. But your goals are not going to achieve themselves, sorry, ok not sorry.
If you are feeling worn down by the world and the ongoing state of the news, your goals can help you to avoid the negativity by giving you something positive to focus on. Even if your goal is to be debt-free and your debt seems insurmountable, think of the positives you can do with that extra money you will have after the debt is paid off and hang onto the promise that “debt-free” will bring you. It's depressing AF out there at the moment, you have got to find the positives to hang onto.
I want you to have something to hold onto because otherwise, you will continue to live the same life over and over again. My friend Sarah used to say, “You only get 75 summers, make them count”, in her case it was unfortunately much fewer, but she lived her life as if every moment counted because it does.
You have got to take total responsibility and go fully, brazenly, and courageously into the pursuit of your dreams. You have to grab life’s twisted agenda and reclaim it for yourself. Sure, it feels scary at first, but you build the confidence by taking the action that scares the fuck out of you. I promise you, if something about your goal scares you, that is the thing you need to action and conquer, immediately.
You don’t have to be realistic; you have to be courageous. Courage is the only thing that will carry you through. You can be afraid, and you can approach it with trepidation, but you cannot cower away from it. Not anymore. This is too important. Trust me, I’m reminding myself of this as I think about Facebook Lives and all that fun TikToky/ Reel stuff.
You are not to give up on your dreams, you have to keep your faith and belief in yourself. You KNOW what you are good at, it is time stop waiting for the right conditions or to find the drive to go for it, otherwise, you’ll only be motivated in the last moments or when the shit starts hitting the fan strikes because you have left yourself no other choice. Please stop making achieving your goals so damn hard for yourself.
Stop waiting and just start – take the smallest action and then, take another. A good first step could be to create a list of all the actions you need to take to achieve your goal.
Put yourself out there – most people don’t know you, even if you were an influencer with 1 million followers that still leaves 8 billion people who do not know you. Put yourself out there, your tribe exists, honestly.
Network and collaborate – answer people’s questions where you can - reach out and serve. Then collaborate with the people with whom you have synergies.
Find inspiration and motivation wherever you can – it is ok to use external inspiration, to make it happen. It can be working to achieve your goal for your family that inspires you, or it can be YouTube videos or even my newsletters, whatever you need to do. This is about you and what works for you. Just promise me you won’t wait until the last moment but will go find the drive to go for it.
Stop holding on to the things that make you feel like crap. Don’t you think that feeling like crap about something, might be a clue that this is not the right thing for you?
